Use

In Mediterranean-themed shrubberies in oceanic climates, or in pots.

Planting

In full sun, protected from cold winds, in very well-drained, acid soil. Remove the plant from its container and thoroughly soak the root ball. Place the plant (not too deeply) in a hole with a mixture of loose soil, sandtype material and topsoil around the root-ball, gently tamping the earth. Water in.

Maintenance

Prune after flowering to keep a compact form. Fertiliser is not necessary (if container-grown, apply a specialised Protea fertiliser). If planted, mulching is preferable to mechanical weeding.
