Though in its South American natural habitat the cockspur coral tree grows to tree size, it remains a shrub in our European climates. Spectacular reddish-orange blossoms last from July through October. A very decorative and easy-to-grow plant.

Use

As an isolated lawn specimen or in association with evergreen shrubs such as Rhododendrons, Japanese Azaleas, Camellias, etc.

Planting

Remove the plant from its container and thoroughly soak the root ball. Place the plant (not too deeply) in a hole with a mixture of loose soil and topsoil around the root-ball, gently tamping the earth. Water in.

Water well the first year. Apply an appropriate fertiliser in spring.
